- Collaborate with outside agencies, such as OSHA, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor and track safety data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
- Act as a resource for employees on safety-related concerns and provide guidance on proper procedures.
- Continuously assess and improve safety programs to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Work closely with management to develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct safety trainings for new employees and provide ongoing support and guidance to all employees.
- Lead safety committees and participate in safety-related meetings.
- Communicate safety updates and initiatives to customers and vendors as needed.
- Proactively identify and address any potential safety hazards to prevent accidents and injuries.
Knowledge Of Railroad Safety Regulations: A Safety Specialist At Union Pacific Railroad Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Regulations And Standards Set By The Federal Railroad Administration (Fra) And The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha).
Experience In Safety Inspections: Candidates For This Role Should Have Experience Conducting Safety Inspections, Identifying Potential Hazards, And Recommending Corrective Actions To Prevent Accidents And Injuries.
Hazard Identification And Risk Assessment Skills: A Safety Specialist At Union Pacific Railroad Must Possess Strong Analytical Skills To Identify Potential Hazards, Assess Their Risk Level, And Develop Strategies To Mitigate Them.
Training And Communication Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Develop And Deliver Safety Training Programs To Employees At All Levels, As Well As Communicate Effectively With Management And Labor Representatives To Ensure Compliance With Safety Regulations.
