Job Description

As a Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining safety policies and procedures throughout our organization.   1. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  2. Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace.
  3. Provide safety training and education to employees at all levels of the organization.
  4. Investigate and report on workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  5. Collaborate with department managers to identify and address safety concerns in their respective areas.
  6. Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  7. Participate in safety committee meetings and provide guidance and support to ensure safety goals are met.
  8. Stay updated on industry best practices and regulations to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement.
  9. Conduct safety assessments and inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure they meet safety standards.
  10. Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organizations to stay informed of safety regulations and best practices.
  11. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety programs, incidents, and training.
  12. Communicate safety procedures and protocols to employees and ensure they are followed.
  13. Serve as a safety resource and provide guidance and support to employees and managers on safety-related matters.
  14. Participate in emergency response and crisis management activities, as needed.
  15. Collaborate with Human Resources to develop and implement return-to-work programs for injured employees.
  16. Conduct safety investigations and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  17. Monitor and manage safety-related budget and expenses.
  18. Identify and implement new technology and tools to enhance safety practices and procedures.
  19. Lead safety-related initiatives and projects to continuously improve safety culture and performance.
  20. Serve as a role model for safety by following all safety procedures and promoting a safe work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Occupational Health And Safety Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In A Safety-Related Role, Preferably In The Transportation Or Railroad Industry.

  • Knowledge Of Osha Regulations, Federal Railroad Administration (Fra) Rules And Regulations, And Other Relevant Safety Standards.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Train And Communicate Safety Protocols To Employees At All Levels.

  • Ability To Analyze Data And Conduct Risk Assessments To Identify Potential Hazards And Develop Safety Strategies To Prevent Accidents And Injuries.
