  1. Conduct thorough inspections of railroad equipment, facilities, and operations to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  2. Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns to management in a timely manner.
  3. Utilize knowledge of regulatory compliance to ensure all operations and procedures are in accordance with federal and state laws.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken.
  5. Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to address and resolve any quality or safety issues.
  6. Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to improve overall performance and efficiency.
  7. Conduct audits and reviews of operational processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
  8. Train and educate team members on quality and safety procedures, standards, and regulations.
  9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and ensure continuous improvement.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and promote a culture of safety and quality within the organization.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Railroad Safety Regulations: A Quality Assurance Inspector At Union Pacific Railroad Must Possess A Thorough Understanding Of The Various Safety Regulations And Policies Applicable To Railroad Operations. This Includes A Working Knowledge Of Federal Railroad Administration (Fra) Regulations And Industry Best Practices.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Quality Assurance Inspector, One Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And The Ability To Identify Potential Hazards Or Defects In Equipment, Processes, And Procedures. This Requires A High Level Of Accuracy And Precision In All Aspects Of The Job.

  • Experience In Quality Control: Candidates For This Position Should Have Prior Experience In Quality Control, Preferably In A Railroad Or Transportation Setting. This Includes A Strong Understanding Of Quality Control Processes, Tools, And Techniques Such As Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis, And Corrective Action Planning.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential For A Quality Assurance Inspector, As They Must Be Able To Clearly And Accurately Convey Information To Various Stakeholders, Including Management, Employees, And Regulators. This Includes Written And Verbal Communication Skills As Well As The Ability To Create Clear And Concise Reports.

  • Technical Knowledge: A Successful Quality Assurance Inspector Should Possess A Strong Technical Background And Be Familiar With The Equipment And Processes Used In Railroad Operations. This Includes A Working Knowledge Of Locomotives, Rolling Stock, Track Maintenance, And Other Key Aspects Of Railroad Infrastructure. Familiarity With Relevant Software And Technology Used In Quality Control Is Also Important.
