
Locomotive Engineer

As a Locomotive Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the operation of our trains, ensuring the timely and smooth delivery of freight and passengers. - Operate locomotive engines in a safe and efficient manner, following all company and federal regulations.
- Ensure the timely and smooth delivery of freight and passengers to their designated destinations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of locomotive engines to ensure they are in proper working order.
- Communicate with conductors, dispatchers, and other team members to coordinate train movements and maintain a safe train operation.
- Monitor and adjust train speed and braking as needed to maintain a safe and efficient journey.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical or operational issues that may arise during a trip.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Keep accurate records of train movements, maintenance activities, and any incidents that may occur.
- Communicate effectively with customers and provide excellent customer service during train stops.
- Stay up-to-date on industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to locomotive operation.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the locomotive cab.
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to management immediately.
- Collaborate with other team members to improve train operations and efficiency.
- Represent Union Pacific Railroad with professionalism and integrity at all times.
At Least 3 Years Of Experience Operating Locomotives, Preferably With A Class I Railroad Company.
Valid Federal Railroad Administration (Fra) Certification As A Locomotive Engineer.
Knowledge Of Railroad Operating Rules, Safety Regulations, And Train Handling Procedures.
Ability To Safely Operate And Control Locomotives In A Variety Of Weather Conditions And On Various Types Of Terrain.
Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Well With A Team, As Well As Independently.
