  2. Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure the well-being of passengers, crew, and cargo.
  3. Maintain and monitor locomotive systems and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  4. Communicate effectively with other crew members, dispatchers, and other personnel to ensure smooth and timely train operations.
  5. Adhere to train schedules and make adjustments as needed to meet changing circumstances.
  6. Monitor and report any issues or malfunctions with the locomotive or train to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Conduct inspections of locomotives and train cars to ensure they meet safety standards.
  8. Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations, such as equipment malfunctions or accidents.
  9. Maintain accurate records and logs of train operations, including any incidents or delays.
  10. Keep up-to-date with all necessary training and certifications required for the position.
  11. Continuously monitor and follow all rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and other regulatory agencies.
  12. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety.
  13. Represent Union Pacific Railroad in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  14. Collaborate with other team members to improve processes and procedures for more efficient train operations.
  15. Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain a high level of professionalism.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Locomotive Engineer Job At Union Pacific Railroad Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Shows Basic Competency In Reading, Writing, And Mathematics, Which Are Essential Skills For Operating A Locomotive.
