- Operate heavy equipment and machinery such as cranes, forklifts, and bulldozers to load, unload, and move cargo and materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Adhere to company policies and regulations, including those related to safety, environmental protection, and quality control.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs when necessary.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify and implement process improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in equipment technology.
- Participate in safety training and meetings as required.
- Always prioritize safety and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Operate equipment in a timely and efficient manner to meet production and transportation goals.
- Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors.
Experience Operating Heavy Equipment: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Operating Heavy Equipment Such As Cranes, Bulldozers, Excavators, Or Other Railroad-Specific Equipment Is Required.
Knowledge Of Safety Regulations: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Safety Regulations And Protocols Related To Operating Heavy Equipment In A Railroad Setting, Including Knowledge Of Osha And Fra Regulations.
Mechanical Aptitude: The Equipment Operator Should Have A Strong Mechanical Aptitude And Be Able To Troubleshoot And Perform Basic Maintenance On Equipment As Needed.
Ability To Work In All Weather Conditions: The Job Of An Equipment Operator At Union Pacific Railroad Requires Working In Various Weather Conditions, Including Extreme Heat And Cold, Rain, And Snow. The Candidate Should Be Able To Adapt To These Conditions And Operate Equipment Safely.
Communication And Teamwork Skills: The Equipment Operator Will Be Working As Part Of A Team, And Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For The Safe And Efficient Operation Of Equipment On The Railroad. The Candidate Should Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Other Team Members And Follow Instructions From Supervisors.
