Job Description

UNC Health Care is seeking an experienced and passionate ED Technician to join our Emergency Department team. Our ED Technicians play an important role in providing exceptional care to our patients and families. As an ED Technician, you will be responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department, under the supervision of the registered nurse. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). In order to be successful in this position, you must be a quick learner and be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. A team-player attitude and excellent communication skills are essential to this role. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to learn, and can bring a positive and compassionate attitude to our Emergency Department. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  2. Comply with all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  3. Accurately document all patient care activities.
  4. Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  5. Monitor and report changes in patient conditions.
  6. Administer medications as ordered by medical staff.
  7. Assist with procedures and treatments.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  9. Respond to patient calls and inquiries in a timely manner.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care.
  11. Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  12. Demonstrate a professional attitude and adhere to the organization’s ethical standards.
