Job Description

The Clinical Pharmacist – ICU position at UNC Health Care is an opportunity to join a highly specialized team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality of service to our patients. We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable individual with excellent communication skills to join us as a Clinical Pharmacist in our ICU. The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and be licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of North Carolina. Additionally, we are looking for a self-directed, team-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide excellent patient care by adhering to established standards of practice and delivering the highest quality of service.
  2. Dispense medications in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, to ensure the safe and effective use of medications.
  4. Use problem-solving and analytical skills to identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to improve patient outcomes.
  5. Educate patients and families about medication use and side effects.
  6. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and provide medication recommendations to physicians.
  7. Monitor patient progress and laboratory data to ensure that medications are effective and safe.
  8. Maintain patient records and accurately document all medication orders and changes.
  9. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  10. Stay current on new medications and treatments.
