Job Description

UNC Health Care is seeking an experienced Clinical Lab Assistant to join our team. This position requires an individual with a passion for providing exceptional patient care and able to work with a sense of urgency. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication skills.We are looking for someone with a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical laboratory or similar setting. The Clinical Lab Assistant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is preferred. Knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and medical terminology is also required. We value individuals who have strong problem-solving skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality care. The successful candidate will be an integral member of our healthcare team and will be responsible for providing accurate and timely results for our patients. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform laboratory tests and procedures according to established protocols and standards.
  2. Accurately record test results in the laboratory information system.
  3. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  4. Ensure samples are correctly labeled, stored, and tracked.
  5. Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the laboratory.
  7. Maintain updated knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.
  8. Provide timely and accurate results for patients.
  9. Follow all quality assurance and control standards.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members and patients.
