Job Description

UNC Health Care is seeking a highly motivated Central Sterile Technician to join our team. In this critical position, you will be responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. As the Central Sterile Technician, you will be an integral member of our healthcare team, working closely with surgeons and other medical personnel to ensure a safe and sterile environment for our patients.The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or other healthcare setting. You will need to demonstrate a strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to ensure that all sterilization processes are properly followed. A successful candidate will also have great communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other members of the healthcare team. Additionally, you should be self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as a part of a larger group.

Responsibilities of a Central Sterile Technician:

  1. Monitor and document sterilization processes to ensure safe and sterile environments.
  2. Inspect, clean, and assemble surgical instruments and equipment prior to sterilization.
  3. Operate and maintain all sterilization equipment and record all sterilization data.
  4. Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly labeled and stored following sterilization.
  5. Maintain accurate records of all sterilization processes and equipment.
  6. Report any issues or problems related to sterilization processes or equipment to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure the safe and effective use of sterilized instruments and equipment.
  8. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
  9. Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with other members of the healthcare team.
  10. Remain current with industry trends, developments, and best practices related to sterilization processes.
