
Anesthesia Technician
UNC Health Care is seeking an experienced Anesthesia Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to our patients. The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for providing quality patient care, a commitment to excellence, and an eagerness to learn and grow.The Anesthesia Technician is a vital member of the Anesthesia Care team, responsible for providing technical support to anesthesiologists and other members of the healthcare team during patient care. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize and respond quickly to changing patient conditions. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of anesthesia equipment and safety protocols, as well as a strong commitment to patient safety. Required Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred• Completion of an approved Anesthesia Technician program preferred• Current certification as an Anesthesia Technician (CATT) from the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians & Technologists (ASATT) required• A minimum of two years of experience working as an Anesthesia Technician in an acute care setting required• Knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of the basic principles of anesthesia preferred• Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications prior to patient procedures.
- Perform basic patient assessments as directed by anesthesiologist.
- Assist anesthesiologist during procedures, including monitoring patient vital signs.
- Ensure anesthesia equipment is in working order and conduct preventative maintenance as directed.
- Monitor patient safety and communicate any changes in patient condition to the anesthesiologist.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and document all activities in patient charts.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.
- Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintain current certifications and participate in continuing education and training as necessary.
