- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing and steamfitting systems throughout the UMass Amherst campus.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with plumbing and steamfitting systems.
- Conduct inspections and evaluations of existing systems to identify potential problems and recommend solutions.
- Install new plumbing and steamfitting systems, including piping, fixtures, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate work and ensure minimal disruption to campus operations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
- Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- Assist with emergency repairs and respond to urgent situations as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete larger projects or tasks.
- Train and mentor junior team members as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent UMass Amherst in a professional manner.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Plumber & Steamfitter I At Umass Amherst Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent, Demonstrating A Basic Level Of Education And Ability To Learn.
Trade School Or Apprenticeship Program: Ideally, Candidates Should Have Completed A Trade School Program Or Apprenticeship In Plumbing And Steamfitting, Providing Them With Hands-On Experience And Technical Knowledge In The Field.
Valid Plumbing And Steamfitting License: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Plumbing And Steamfitting License, Demonstrating Their Expertise And Adherence To Industry Standards And Regulations.
