- Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks on campus buildings and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to ensure the safety and comfort of students, faculty, and staff.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with equipment, fixtures, and systems to maintain proper functioning and prevent potential hazards.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance tasks, including work orders, time spent, and materials used.
- Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to complete larger projects and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other campus staff to report issues and provide updates on maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards or areas in need of improvement to supervisors.
- Keep up-to-date with industry standards and best practices for maintenance and repair.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including properly storing tools and equipment.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic while working independently or as part of a team.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The Candidate Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent To Be Considered For The Position Of Maintainer I At Umass Amherst.
Prior Maintenance Experience: Previous Experience In A Maintenance Role Is Preferred For This Position. The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Basic Maintenance Procedures And Be Able To Troubleshoot And Fix Common Issues.
Physical Fitness: This Job Requires A Considerable Amount Of Physical Work, Including Lifting, Bending, And Standing For Long Periods. Therefore, Candidates Must Be Physically Fit And Able To Carry Out These Tasks Effectively.
Knowledge Of Tools And Equipment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Various Tools And Equipment Used In Maintenance Work. This Includes Hand Tools, Power Tools, And Other Specialized Equipment.
