Job Description

Look no further - UMass Amherst is seeking a dedicated Departmental Assistant (Kitchen Assistant) to join our team! As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our dining operations and ensuring that our customers have an exceptional dining experience.   1. Assist in food preparation and cooking tasks, following established recipes and guidelines.
  2. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and storing ingredients properly.
  3. Monitor and record food temperatures and follow food safety protocols.
  4. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
  5. Assist in inventory management, including restocking supplies and keeping track of food orders.
  6. Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests and addressing any concerns or requests.
  7. Follow standard operating procedures and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  8. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Collaborate with team members to ensure the timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  10. Attend training sessions and continuously expand knowledge and skills related to food preparation and service.
  11. Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  12. Assist in creating and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers and staff.
  13. Complete administrative tasks such as recording inventory, tracking expenses, and submitting reports.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Departmental Assistant (Kitchen Assistant) Position At Umass Amherst Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Knowledge And Understanding Of Academic Concepts And Workplace Expectations.

  • Previous Kitchen Or Food Service Experience: Experience In A Kitchen Or Food Service Setting Is Highly Desirable For A Departmental Assistant (Kitchen Assistant) Job At Umass Amherst.
