Under direction of the Director of Student Affairs and Initiatives and the Chair, serve as the Student Affairs Officer for the Department of Comparative Literature and the LGBTQ Studies IDP minor. Coordinate, plan, develop, implement and modify policies and procedures for efficient operation of, and direct staff functions relating to, counseling services, scheduling and enrollment, administration, events, public relations, outreach, and special programs. Counsel approximately 60 graduate students and 100 undergraduate students each quarter for Comparative Literature and 24 minors for LGBTQ Studies. Advise MA and PhD students on major/degree requirements on academic/career goal setting. Advise graduates and undergraduates on choice of classes and required/elective courses.

Ability to show empathy and a sincere concern about student problems. Skill in listening perceptively and conveying awareness.
Skill in interpretation of transcripts and/or coursework (catalogues, syllabi) from other universities and colleges to accurately advise students of degree applicability.
