We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our development efforts as the Director of Development for the UCLA Library. - Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the UCLA Library, in alignment with the overall goals and mission of the institution.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and other key stakeholders to secure major gifts and donations for the library.
- Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and initiatives, leveraging various channels and platforms to reach potential donors and increase philanthropic support.
- Collaborate with other departments within the library and across campus to identify and prioritize fundraising needs and opportunities.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and other funding sources to support library programs and initiatives.
- Utilize data and analytics to track and measure the success of fundraising efforts, and make adjustments as needed to ensure goals are met.
- Develop and manage a team of development staff, providing leadership, support, and guidance to achieve fundraising targets.
- Work closely with the Dean of the UCLA Library to develop and maintain a strong culture of philanthropy within the organization.
- Represent the library at events and conferences, and serve as a spokesperson for the library's development efforts.
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in development and fundraising, and provide recommendations for incorporating new strategies and techniques into the library's fundraising initiatives.
- Manage the library's donor database and ensure accurate and timely record-keeping of all donor information and interactions.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions with donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison between the library and external fundraising organizations, promoting collaborative partnerships and seeking out opportunities for joint fundraising efforts.
- Serve as an advocate for diversity and inclusivity in all development efforts, ensuring that the library's fundraising initiatives reflect its commitment to equity and social justice.
- Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of development strategies and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
Advanced Degree In Fundraising Or A Related Field: A Director Of Development At Ucla Library Should Hold An Advanced Degree In A Relevant Field, Such As Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy, Or Fundraising. This Qualification Showcases The Candidate's In-Depth Knowledge And Understanding Of The Principles And Best Practices Of Fundraising.
Proven Track Record Of Successful Fundraising: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Demonstrated Track Record Of Successful Fundraising, Preferably In A Higher Education Setting. This Includes Experience In Major Gift Solicitation, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, And Campaign Fundraising.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Director Of Development, The Individual Will Be Responsible For Building And Maintaining Relationships With Donors, Alumni, And Other Stakeholders. Therefore, Exceptional Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For This Role.
Experience In Team Management: The Director Of Development Will Lead A Team Of Development Professionals, And Therefore, Prior Experience In Team Management Is Essential. This Includes The Ability To Motivate, Mentor, And Guide Team Members To Achieve Fundraising Goals.
Knowledge Of The Ucla Library And Its Programs: Familiarity With The Ucla Library And Its Programs Is Highly Desirable For This Role.
