  1. Abstract and review medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  2. Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding procedures.
  3. Update and maintain patient records in an organized and timely manner.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to gather necessary medical information.
  5. Analyze and interpret medical data to identify potential discrepancies or errors.
  6. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  7. Prioritize and manage workload to meet deadlines and maintain productivity.
  8. Communicate with patients and their families to obtain missing or incomplete medical information.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  10. Participate in training and educational opportunities to stay current on industry standards and best practices.
  11. Assist in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  12. Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  13. Identify and report any issues or concerns with medical records to appropriate parties.
  14. Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  15. Serve as a positive representative of UCLA Health and our mission to provide compassionate, high-quality healthcare to all patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Abstracting And Coding Patient Records In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Coding Systems (Icd-10, Cpt), And Electronic Health Record Systems.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Abstract And Analyze Complex Medical Information.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Healthcare Providers And Other Team Members.
