
Genetic Counselor II – Oncology

- Conduct thorough genetic evaluations and counseling sessions for patients and their families to assess their risk of hereditary cancer.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information on genetic testing, screening, and management options for hereditary cancer.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans for patients.
- Conduct research and stay updated on advancements in genetic and oncology fields to provide the most current and effective care.
- Act as a resource and educator for patients, families, and healthcare professionals on genetics and hereditary cancer.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient evaluations, counseling sessions, and treatment plans.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of genetic counseling services.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families as they navigate their hereditary cancer risk.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in genetic counseling and patient care.
- Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and resources for patients and their families.
- Attend conferences and workshops to stay current on best practices and advancements in the field of genetic counseling.
- Participate in outreach programs to raise awareness and promote the importance of genetic testing for hereditary cancer.
- Collaborate with insurance companies and other third-party payers to ensure coverage for genetic testing and counseling services.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and data privacy at all times.
- Uphold the mission and values of UCLA Health in all aspects of the job.
Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.
Board Certification By The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Oncology Genetic Counseling.
Knowledge Of Current Genetic Testing And Counseling Guidelines For Hereditary Cancer Syndromes.
Excellent Communication And Counseling Skills With Patients And Healthcare Providers.
