- Support the team of Genetic Counselors in providing personalized genetic counseling services to patients and their families.
- Conduct thorough research and gather relevant information to assist Genetic Counselors in developing treatment plans.
- Educate and communicate with patients and their families about genetic disorders, testing options, and potential risks.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and coordinating follow-up care for patients.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information and counseling sessions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
- Stay updated on advancements and changes in the field of genetics to provide the most current and effective support to patients.
- Provide emotional support and empathy to patients and their families during the genetic counseling process.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in regards to patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and services.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude towards patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Continuously develop and maintain knowledge and skills through attending seminars, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations for genetic testing.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering necessary supplies for the genetic counseling department.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of UCLA Health to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
Knowledge Of Genetic Counseling Principles And Practices.
Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Genetics, Biology, Or Psychology.
Previous Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably With Exposure To Genetic Counseling.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients And Healthcare Professionals.
Proficiency In Data Entry And Record Keeping To Maintain Accurate Patient Records.
