
Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician - Prescription Management

- Manage Prescription Requests: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for receiving and managing prescription requests from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. This includes verifying patient information, contacting providers for clarification or authorization, and accurately entering prescription information into the electronic system.
- Ensure Quality Care: It is the responsibility of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician to ensure that patients receive the best possible care by accurately filling prescriptions, providing appropriate counseling, and adhering to all safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure safe and effective medication management. This may involve communicating with other departments or facilities to obtain necessary information or supplies.
- Maintain Medication Inventory: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining medication inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications. This requires attention to detail and knowledge of medication storage and handling requirements.
- Provide Patient Education: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will educate patients on their medications, including usage, potential side effects, and interactions with other medications. They will also provide resources and guidance for medication adherence and management.
- Support Prescription Refills: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will assist with processing prescription refills, including obtaining authorization from providers, preparing medications, and coordinating with patients for pick-up or delivery.
- Ensure Compliance: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as UCLA Health policies and procedures, when handling and dispensing medications.
- Maintain Records: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will accurately maintain patient records and prescription information in the electronic system, including updating patient profiles, medication histories, and insurance information.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement: The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement in processes and patient care.

Pharmacy Technician Certification: Candidates Must Hold A Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (Cpht) From An Accredited Organization Such As The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb).
Knowledge Of Prescription Management Software: Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Prescription Management Software, Such As Epic Or Cerner, And Be Able To Accurately Enter And Process Medication Orders.
Understanding Of Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations, Including Medication Dispensing, Inventory Management, And Patient Counseling.
