Job Description

  1. Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care for patients with complex neurological and traumatic injuries.
  2. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  3. Monitor and assess patient conditions, document changes, and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
  4. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
  5. Utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate and respond to potential complications and emergencies.
  6. Advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
  7. Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment plan, and self-care strategies.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  9. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols and procedures.
  10. Participate in ongoing education and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  11. Support a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
  12. Act as a role model for professional nursing practices and behaviors.
  13. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during difficult times.
  14. Stay up-to-date on current trends and advancements in the field of neuro trauma nursing.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve nursing practices to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Relevant Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse Position In The Neuro Trauma Icu At Uchealth. This Degree Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Comprehensive Training In Patient Care, Critical Thinking, And Leadership Skills.

  • Active Rn License: A Valid And Active Registered Nurse License Is A Must For This Position. This License Is Obtained After Passing The National Council Licensure Examination (Nclex) And Ensures That The Candidate Is Qualified To Practice As A Nurse In The State Of Colorado.

  • Previous Experience In Critical Care Or Neuro Trauma: Experience In Critical Care And Neuro Trauma Units Is Highly Preferred For This Role. This Experience Allows The Candidate To Handle The Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment Of The Neuro Trauma Icu At Uchealth.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (Acls) Certification: As A Specialized Unit, The Neuro Trauma Icu Requires Nurses To Have Acls Certification. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Ability To Handle Cardiac Emergencies And Advanced Life Support Techniques, Which May Be Necessary In This Unit.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: The Neuro Trauma Icu At Uchealth Is A Multidisciplinary Unit That Requires Effective Communication And Collaboration Among Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential Qualifications For A Registered Nurse In This Unit.
