  1. Oversee and coordinate phlebotomy services across all UCHealth facilities.
  2. Lead a team of phlebotomists, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  3. Ensure that all phlebotomy procedures are performed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established protocols.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and timely delivery of services.
  6. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of phlebotomy services.
  7. Conduct regular performance evaluations for phlebotomy staff and provide feedback for improvement.
  8. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and HIPAA guidelines related to phlebotomy services.
  9. Handle patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  10. Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and best practices in phlebotomy, and implement changes as needed.
  11. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, open communication, and mutual respect.
  12. Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and hire qualified phlebotomy staff.
  13. Maintain accurate records and reports related to phlebotomy services, including productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  14. Participate in meetings and committees to contribute to the overall improvement of patient care and organizational goals.
  15. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of UCHealth in all interactions and decisions.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Phlebotomist: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist From An Accredited Institution.

  • Previous Leadership Experience: A Phlebotomy Lead Should Have Prior Experience In A Leadership Role, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting. This Includes Experience In Supervising And Training Staff, Managing Schedules, And Ensuring Compliance With Safety And Quality Standards.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills Are Crucial For A Phlebotomy Lead As They Will Be Required To Communicate With Patients, Medical Staff, And Other Team Members. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Convey Instructions, Provide Feedback, And Handle Any Conflicts That May Arise.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures: A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures And Protocols Is Essential For A Phlebotomy Lead. This Includes Knowledge Of Specimen Collection, Handling, And Processing, As Well As Knowledge Of Safety Precautions And Infection Control Measures.

  • Attention To Detail: The Role Of A Phlebotomy Lead Requires A High Level Of Accuracy And Attention To Detail. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Eye For Detail To Ensure That All Samples Are Collected, Labeled, And Handled Correctly To Maintain The Integrity Of The Sample And Ensure Accurate Test Results.
