  1. Greet and welcome patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and friendly experience.
  2. Accurately and efficiently register patients for appointments, procedures, or hospital admissions.
  3. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
  4. Collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information into electronic medical records.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients to obtain necessary medical history and other relevant information.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  7. Answer patient inquiries and provide information on services, insurance coverage, and payment options.
  8. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure accurate and timely patient registration and scheduling.
  9. Monitor patient flow and assist with managing wait times to improve overall patient satisfaction.
  10. Follow established protocols and guidelines for registration and insurance verification processes.
  11. Identify and escalate any issues or concerns to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  12. Continuously update and maintain patient records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  13. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on industry changes and best practices.
  14. Handle financial transactions, such as collecting co-pays and deductibles, and accurately record payments.
  15. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and professional environment for patients and staff.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Access Specialist At Uchealth Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Knowledge To Perform The Job Duties Effectively.

  • Experience In Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting Is Preferred For A Patient Access Specialist At Uchealth. This Includes Experience In Patient Registration, Insurance Verification, And Scheduling Appointments.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Patient Access Specialist, One Must Have Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Interact With Patients, Healthcare Providers, And Insurance Companies. This Includes The Ability To Explain Complex Medical And Insurance Information In A Clear And Concise Manner.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is A Must For A Patient Access Specialist At Uchealth. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Medical Procedures, Diagnoses, And Insurance Codes.

  • Computer Proficiency: In Today's Digital Age, Computer Proficiency Is A Necessary Skill For A Patient Access Specialist. This Includes Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Record Systems, Scheduling Software, And Insurance Portals. The Candidate Must Also Be Comfortable Using Basic Office Software, Such As Microsoft Office.
