As an Ophthalmic Scribe, you will play a crucial role in assisting our ophthalmologists in providing accurate and efficient documentation of patient encounters.   1. Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters in electronic medical records (EMR) system, ensuring all necessary information is recorded.
  2. Assist ophthalmologists in gathering patient history, performing diagnostic tests, and documenting findings.
  3. Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear and concise explanations of procedures and treatments.
  6. Keep track of patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient flow of patients through the clinic.
  7. Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols.
  8. Attend training and educational sessions to stay updated on new techniques and procedures in ophthalmology.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized patient records, including updating medical history and medications.
  10. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient inquiries.
  11. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and guidelines to protect patient information.
  12. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients, understanding the importance of building rapport and trust.
  13. Remain up-to-date on changes in the field of ophthalmology and EMR systems to ensure accurate and efficient documentation.
  14. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Basic Educational Requirement For An Ophthalmic Scribe Job At Uchealth Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Qualification Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Academic Subjects And Is Capable Of Performing Clerical Tasks.

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Coa) Or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (Cot) Credentials: Uchealth Prefers Candidates Who Hold A Coa Or Cot Certification, As It Demonstrates A Higher Level Of Knowledge And Competency In The Field Of Ophthalmology. These Credentials Also Show A Dedication To Professional Development And A Commitment To Providing High-Quality Patient Care.

  • Prior Experience In A Medical Office Or Ophthalmology Setting: Previous Experience In A Medical Office Or Ophthalmology Setting Is Highly Preferred For An Ophthalmic Scribe Position At Uchealth. This Experience Demonstrates An Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Patient Care Protocols, Which Are Essential For This Role.

  • Excellent Computer Skills: As An Ophthalmic Scribe, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Entering And Managing Patient Data And Electronic Medical Records. Therefore, Proficiency In Computer Skills, Including Data Entry And Navigating Electronic Systems, Is A Must For This Position At Uchealth.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Candidate Must Possess Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Listen Actively, Convey Information Clearly, And Maintain A Professional And Empathetic Demeanor At All Times.
