Job Description

  1. Conduct and oversee quality assurance procedures for all radiation-producing equipment used in patient care, including linear accelerators, CT scanners, and brachytherapy equipment.
  2. Collaborate with radiation oncologists and other members of the healthcare team to develop treatment plans for patients.
  3. Perform calculations and simulations to determine the optimal dosage and delivery of radiation therapy.
  4. Monitor and evaluate patient treatments to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  5. Troubleshoot technical issues related to radiation equipment and provide timely solutions.
  6. Stay current with advances in technology and research in the field of medical physics.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procedures and treatments performed.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
  9. Train and supervise other staff members in the safe and effective use of radiation equipment.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  11. Communicate with patients and their families to address any concerns or questions regarding radiation therapy.
  12. Assist with research projects and clinical trials related to medical physics.
  13. Continuously assess and improve departmental processes and procedures to enhance patient care and safety.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of job responsibilities.
  15. Adhere to institutional and professional standards and codes of conduct.

Job Qualifications
  • A Master's Or Doctoral Degree In Medical Physics From An Accredited Institution: This Is Essential For A Medical Physicist At Uchealth As It Provides The Necessary Theoretical And Practical Knowledge In Areas Such As Radiation Therapy, Radiological Imaging, And Radiation Safety.

  • Certification By The American Board Of Radiology (Abr) Or The American Board Of Medical Physics (Abmp): Uchealth Requires Its Medical Physicists To Be Board-Certified To Ensure They Have Met The Highest Standards Of Education, Training, And Experience In Medical Physics.

  • Experience In Medical Physics: A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting Is Preferred. This Experience Should Include Working With Advanced Medical Imaging And Radiation Therapy Technologies, As Well As Knowledge Of Quality Assurance And Regulatory Compliance.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Medical Physicists At Uchealth Are Expected To Analyze Complex Data, Identify Solutions, And Make Critical Decisions That Impact Patient Care. Therefore, Candidates Should Possess Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As Part Of A Multidisciplinary Healthcare Team, Medical Physicists At Uchealth Must Effectively Communicate With Physicians, Therapists, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Also Necessary To Interact With Patients And Their Families, Especially During Difficult Situations.
