  1. Accurately interpret and convey medical information between patients and healthcare providers in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients and healthcare providers.
  3. Facilitate effective communication between patients and healthcare providers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  4. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure that patients receive high-quality and culturally sensitive care.
  5. Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to accurately interpret and convey information.
  6. Adhere to all established policies, procedures, and protocols related to medical interpretation.
  7. Document all interpretation services provided accurately and in a timely manner.
  8. Ensure that all necessary equipment and resources are available and functioning properly for effective interpretation.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to improve skills and stay updated on industry standards.
  10. Communicate with patients and healthcare providers to schedule interpretation services as needed.
  11. Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members to support a positive and collaborative work environment.
  12. Maintain cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions with patients and healthcare providers.
  13. Maintain certification and comply with all regulatory requirements related to medical interpretation.
  14. Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of interpretation services.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of UCHealth in all aspects of the role.

Job Qualifications
  • Fluency In English And A Second Language - Medical Interpreters At Uchealth Must Be Proficient In Both English And A Second Language, Such As Spanish, Mandarin, Or Asl. This Ensures Effective Communication With Patients Who May Have Limited English Proficiency.

  • Certified Medical Interpreter - Uchealth Requires Medical Interpreters To Hold A Nationally Recognized Certification, Such As The Certified Medical Interpreter (Cmi) Or The National Board Of Certification For Medical Interpreters (Nbcmi). This Demonstrates A High Level Of Proficiency And Understanding Of Medical Terminology.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures - A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures Is Essential For Medical Interpreters At Uchealth. This Enables Them To Accurately Interpret And Convey Medical Information Between Patients And Healthcare Providers.
