Job Description

As a Dosimetrist, you will play a crucial role in the planning and delivery of radiation therapy treatment for patients with cancer and other diseases. Your expertise and compassion will contribute to the overall success of our radiation therapy program, and help our patients in their journey to recovery.   1. Plan and deliver accurate radiation therapy treatments for patients with cancer and other diseases.
  2. Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
  3. Utilize advanced technology and techniques to determine the appropriate dosage and delivery of radiation.
  4. Perform quality assurance checks to ensure safety and accuracy of treatment plans.
  5. Communicate with patients and their families to explain treatment procedures and address any concerns or questions.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of treatment plans and patient progress.
  7. Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for patients and staff.
  8. Stay updated on advancements in radiation therapy technology and techniques, and incorporate them into treatment plans.
  9. Provide support and guidance to other members of the radiation therapy team, including therapists and dosimetry assistants.
  10. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients, and strive to make their treatment experience as comfortable as possible.
  11. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  12. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute ideas for improving the radiation therapy program.
  13. Attend relevant conferences and workshops to continue professional development.
  14. Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards colleagues and patients.
  15. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment at UCHealth.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Dosimetry Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Dosimetry Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Medical Dosimetrist Position At Uchealth. This Education Provides A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Techniques Of Radiation Therapy Planning.

  • Certification By The Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (Mdcb): Uchealth Requires Medical Dosimetrists To Be Certified By The Mdcb. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Demonstrated Proficiency In The Field And Is Up-To-Date On The Latest Practices And Techniques.

  • Experience With Treatment Planning Software: Proficiency In Treatment Planning Software, Such As Eclipse Or Raystation, Is An Essential Qualification For A Medical Dosimetrist At Uchealth. Candidates Should Have Experience Using These Tools To Develop Complex Treatment Plans For A Variety Of Cancer Cases.

  • Knowledge Of Radiation Therapy Equipment: Familiarity With Various Types Of Radiation Therapy Equipment, Such As Linear Accelerators And Brachytherapy Machines, Is Important For A Medical Dosimetrist At Uchealth. This Allows The Candidate To Adapt Treatment Plans To Different Types Of Equipment And Ensure Accurate Delivery Of Radiation To The Patient.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Key Member Of The Radiation Therapy Team, A Medical Dosimetrist At Uchealth Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Collaborate Effectively With Other Team Members, Explain Treatment Plans To Patients, And Provide Support And Education To Patients And Their Families.
