
HIM (Health Information Management) Scanning Specialist

- Accurately scan and upload medical records into the electronic health record system.
- Organize and maintain physical medical records in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure all scanned records are properly labeled and indexed for easy retrieval.
- Review scanned records for accuracy and completeness, making necessary corrections as needed.
- Assist with the release of medical records to authorized parties in a timely and confidential manner.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other departments to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Troubleshoot any issues with scanning equipment and escalate to the appropriate department for resolution.
- Keep abreast of changes in health information management practices and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the scanning process.
- Communicate with patients and their families regarding the status of their medical records or any necessary follow-up.
- Collaborate with the HIM team to ensure all records are properly stored and archived according to retention policies.
- Participate in training and education programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to health information management.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring the confidentiality and security of all records.
- Other duties as assigned by the HIM Manager or supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field
Certified As A Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit) Or Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr)
Knowledge Of Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems, Specifically Scanning And Indexing Processes
Proficiency In Medical Terminology And Coding Systems, Such As Icd-10 And Cpt
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Him Department Or Medical Records Environment.
