
Emergency Medical Technician

- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency calls and provide appropriate medical care to patients in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Perform basic and advanced life support techniques, including administering medications, defibrillation, and airway management.
- Assess and prioritize patient needs, taking into consideration the severity of injuries or illnesses and the availability of medical resources.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals to provide information and updates on patient conditions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, including patient information, treatments provided, and response to interventions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of patients during transport to medical facilities, adhering to all traffic laws and safe driving practices.
- Maintain and stock emergency medical equipment and supplies, performing routine checks and inspections to ensure proper functionality.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve skills and knowledge in emergency medical care.
- Collaborate with other emergency responders, including firefighters and law enforcement, to provide coordinated and efficient emergency medical services.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families, providing emotional support and reassurance during stressful situations.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards, including maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting patients' rights.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For An Emergency Medical Technician Job At Uchealth Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That Applicants Have A Basic Understanding Of Math, Science, And Communication Skills Necessary For The Job.
State Certification: All Applicants For An Emergency Medical Technician Job At Uchealth Must Hold A Valid State Certification As An Emt. This Ensures That Candidates Have Completed The Necessary Training And Have The Required Knowledge And Skills To Provide Emergency Medical Care.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Uchealth Requires All Emts To Hold A Current Bls Certification. This Certification Ensures That Applicants Have The Necessary Training To Provide Basic Life Support In Emergency Situations, Such As Cpr And First Aid.
Prior Experience: While Not Always Required, Prior Experience As An Emt Is Preferred For Applicants At Uchealth. This Demonstrates A Candidate's Ability To Perform The Duties Of An Emt And Their Familiarity With Emergency Medical Procedures.
Physical And Mental Fitness: Due To The Physically And Mentally Demanding Nature Of The Job, All Applicants For An Emt Position At Uchealth Must Be In Good Physical And Mental Health. This Includes The Ability To Lift And Move Heavy Objects, Work Long And Irregular Hours, And Remain Calm In High-Stress Situations.
