- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the radiation therapy program at UCHealth.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
- Lead and mentor a team of medical physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and audits to maintain the highest standards of radiation therapy.
- Stay up-to-date with new developments and advancements in the field of medical physics and implement them into practice.
- Provide support and guidance to radiation therapy staff in the event of complex cases or technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with hospital administration to develop and manage the radiation therapy budget.
- Participate in research projects and contribute to the advancement of medical physics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and vendors to ensure access to the latest technology and equipment.
- Serve as a resource for education and training for medical physics students and residents.
- Act as a liaison between the radiation oncology department and other departments within the hospital.
- Maintain a strong commitment to patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
Advanced Degree In Medical Physics Or Related Field: A Chief Medical Physicist At Uchealth Should Possess An Advanced Degree (Master's Or Phd) In Medical Physics Or A Related Field Such As Radiological Sciences Or Biomedical Engineering.
Board Certification In Medical Physics: Uchealth Requires Its Chief Medical Physicist To Be Board Certified By The American Board Of Radiology (Abr) Or The American Board Of Medical Physics (Abmp) In At Least One Specialty, Such As Therapeutic Medical Physics, Diagnostic Medical Physics, Or Nuclear Medical Physics.
Extensive Experience In Clinical Medical Physics: Candidates For The Chief Medical Physicist Position Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Medical Physics Setting, Preferably In An Academic Medical Center.
Leadership Skills: As A Leader Within The Organization, The Chief Medical Physicist Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Manage A Team Of Medical Physicists And Other Staff Members. Experience In Managing And Implementing Quality Assurance Programs Is Also Highly Desirable.
Knowledge Of Regulatory And Accreditation Requirements: Uchealth Requires Its Chief Medical Physicist To Have A Thorough Understanding Of All Relevant Regulatory And Accreditation Requirements, Including Those Of The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Nrc), The Joint Commission, And The American College Of Radiology (Acr). Experience With Accreditation Processes And Inspections Is Preferred.
