  4. Collaborate with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  5. Maintain accurate records of laboratory tests and results.
  6. Stay up-to-date with current medical laboratory technology and techniques.
  7. Provide training and mentorship to laboratory staff at diplomatic missions abroad.
  8. Represent the U.S. Department of State and promote global health initiatives at professional conferences and meetings.
  9. Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.
  10. Communicate effectively with colleagues, superiors, and other stakeholders to provide updates on laboratory operations and promote collaboration.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  12. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of laboratory work.
  13. Comply with all safety and security protocols in diplomatic missions abroad.
  14. Participate in emergency response efforts, including outbreak investigations and disaster relief efforts.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field: This Position Requires A Strong Foundation In Medical Laboratory Science, Including Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures, Equipment, And Quality Control Measures.

  • Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) Or Medical Technologist (Mt): The U.s. Department Of State Requires Candidates To Hold A Valid Mls Or Mt Certification From A Recognized Accrediting Agency, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).

  • Experience Working In An International Or Cross-Cultural Setting: The Foreign Service Regional Medical Laboratory Scientist Will Be Stationed At U.s. Diplomatic Facilities Overseas, So Experience Working In A Diverse And Cross-Cultural Environment Is Essential.

  • Knowledge Of International Health Regulations And Standards: This Position Requires A Strong Understanding Of International Health Regulations And Standards, Including Those Set By The World Health Organization (Who) And The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (Cdc).

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Foreign Service Regional Medical Laboratory Scientist Will Work Closely With Colleagues, Local Health Authorities, And U.s. Diplomats, So Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For Success In This Role.
