In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our faculty, staff, and students by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.   1. Develop and implement comprehensive safety protocols and procedures for laboratory settings in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks in the laboratory and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  3. Provide training and education to laboratory staff on safety procedures, hazardous material handling, and emergency response protocols.
  4. Ensure that all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to meet safety standards.
  5. Stay up-to-date on current environmental health and safety regulations and make recommendations for updates or changes to existing protocols.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and teams to develop and implement emergency response plans in the event of accidents or incidents in the laboratory.
  7. Investigate and report any safety incidents or violations and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation of safety procedures, training sessions, and incidents.
  9. Conduct risk assessments for new laboratory procedures and equipment and make recommendations for necessary safety measures.
  10. Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students regarding environmental health and safety concerns in the laboratory.
  11. Communicate safety policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and students and promote a culture of safety within the laboratory.
  12. Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss and address any safety concerns within the laboratory.
  13. Collaborate with external agencies and organizations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
  14. Continuously monitor and evaluate safety practices and make recommendations for improvements to promote a safe and healthy laboratory environment.
  15. Respond to any safety concerns or emergencies in a timely and efficient manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Health And Safety, Occupational Health And Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Laboratory Safety, Preferably In An Academic Or Research Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations Pertaining To Laboratory Safety, Including Osha, Epa, And Cdc Guidelines.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Identify Potential Hazards And Develop Effective Solutions.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Train And Educate Laboratory Staff On Safety Protocols And Procedures.
