Assistant Wine Buyer

Welcome to Total Wine & More, the largest independent retailer of fine wine in the United States! We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Wine Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our Wine Buyers to source and curate an exceptional selection of wines for our customers. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the wine industry, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a strong passion for wine. 1. Collaborate with Wine Buyers to develop and execute a strategic plan for sourcing and curating a diverse and high-quality selection of wines.
2. Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends to identify new and unique wines to add to our inventory.
3. Manage relationships with wine distributors and negotiate favorable pricing and terms for our company.
4. Assist in the selection and purchasing of wines for our stores, ensuring they meet our standards of quality, price, and customer demand.
5. Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations for restocking and special promotions.
6. Work closely with store managers and sales associates to educate them on new wines and provide guidance on selling techniques.
7. Represent the company at industry events and tastings, building relationships with winemakers and suppliers.
8. Maintain accurate records and reports on wine purchases, sales, and inventory.
9. Continuously expand knowledge of wine industry trends, regions, and varietals to provide expertise and recommendations to customers.
10. Contribute to team meetings and provide insights and suggestions for improving the wine buying process.
11. Uphold the company's standards for customer service and ensure a positive and memorable shopping experience for customers.
12. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including legal compliance and responsible alcohol sales.
13. Collaborate with marketing and advertising teams to promote and feature new and popular wines.
14. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by Wine Buyers or management.
