Job Description

If so, Thresholds is seeking a Substitute Teacher for our Young Adult Program. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide support and guidance to young adults as they navigate their mental health journeys.   1. Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for young adults with mental health challenges.
  2. Provide support and guidance to young adults as they navigate their mental health journeys.
  3. Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the program's goals and objectives.
  4. Collaborate with program staff to ensure consistency and continuity in education and support for clients.
  5. Maintain accurate records of client progress and participation.
  6. Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other team members.
  7. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of clients.
  8. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date on best practices in working with individuals with mental health challenges.
  9. Follow all policies and procedures set forth by the organization.
  10. Provide coverage for regular teachers as needed, including planning and delivering lessons.
  11. Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages learning and personal growth.
  12. Serve as a positive role model for clients and uphold professional and ethical standards.
  13. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  15. Demonstrate a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young adults with mental health challenges.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Education Or A Related Field: A Candidate For A Substitute Teacher Position At Thresholds Should Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Education Or A Related Field, Such As Special Education, Counseling, Or Psychology. This Educational Background Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For Effectively Working With Young Adults With Mental Health Challenges.

  • Teaching Experience With Young Adults: Candidates Should Have Experience Teaching In A Classroom Setting, Preferably With Young Adults. This Experience Will Demonstrate An Understanding Of Effective Teaching Methods And The Ability To Adapt To The Unique Needs Of This Age Group.

  • Knowledge Of Mental Health And Trauma-Informed Care: The Substitute Teacher Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Mental Health And How It Can Impact A Young Adult's Learning And Behavior. Experience With Trauma-Informed Care Is Also Important, As Many Of The Young Adults At Thresholds May Have Experienced Trauma In Their Lives.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Substitute Teacher, It Is Important To Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Both Students And Staff. This Includes Being Able To Establish Rapport With The Young Adults And Work Collaboratively With The Team At Thresholds.

  • Flexibility And Adaptability: The Substitute Teacher Role At Thresholds May Involve Working With Students With Varying Levels Of Mental Health Challenges And Abilities. Being Able To Adapt To Different Situations And Approaches Is Crucial For Success In This Role. Flexibility In Scheduling And The Ability To Handle Unexpected Changes Is Also Important.
