Job Description

As a Peer Health Navigator, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact by providing support and guidance to individuals with mental health challenges.   1. Provide support and guidance - The Peer Health Navigator will be responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals with mental health challenges. This may include emotional support, practical advice, and connecting individuals to resources.
  2. Promote wellness - The main responsibility of the Peer Health Navigator will be to promote wellness and empower individuals to live healthier lives. This may include developing and implementing wellness programs, providing education on healthy habits, and advocating for wellness within the organization.
  3. Utilize knowledge of community resources - The Peer Health Navigator should have a strong understanding of the resources available in the community to support individuals with mental health challenges. This may include mental health clinics, support groups, and other relevant organizations.
  4. Navigate the healthcare system - The Peer Health Navigator should have experience navigating the healthcare system and be able to guide individuals through the process of accessing necessary services. This may include helping individuals make appointments, filling out paperwork, and advocating for their needs.
  5. Promote holistic health - As a Peer Health Navigator, it will be important to promote holistic health and wellness. This may include incorporating elements of physical, emotional, and social health into support and guidance provided to individuals.
  6. Demonstrate compassion and empathy - The ideal candidate for this role will be compassionate and empathetic towards individuals with mental health challenges. They should be able to listen actively, show understanding and be non-judgmental in their interactions.
  7. Collaborate with team members - The Peer Health Navigator will work closely with other team members, including mental health professionals, to ensure that individuals receive comprehensive care. They should be able to collaborate effectively and communicate any concerns or updates to the team.
  8. Maintain confidentiality - It will be essential for the Peer Health Navigator to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of individuals receiving support. This includes following all HIPAA regulations and agency policies.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices - The Peer Health Navigator should stay informed about industry trends and best practices in mental health and wellness.

  • Communication Skills: Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Necessary For A Peer Health Navigator To Effectively Communicate With Clients, Colleagues, And Other Professionals.

  • Advocacy Experience: The Ability To Advocate For Individuals With Mental Illness And Their Needs Is Crucial For A Peer Health Navigator. This Includes Advocating For Clients Within The Mental Health System And In The Community.
