We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as an IPS Employment Specialist - Deaf & Hard of Hearing. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by assisting individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in finding and maintaining meaningful employment. We are looking for someone who is fluent in American Sign Language and has a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by this community.   1. Provide comprehensive mental health services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  2. Assist individuals in finding and maintaining meaningful employment opportunities.
  3. Conduct assessments to identify the specific needs and goals of each individual.
  4. Develop and implement employment plans tailored to the individual's needs and abilities.
  5. Connect with local employers to create job opportunities for our clients.
  6. Provide job coaching and support to individuals in the workplace.
  7. Advocate for accommodations and accessibility for individuals in the workplace.
  8. Utilize American Sign Language to effectively communicate with clients.
  9. Collaborate with other members of the mental health team to ensure holistic care for clients.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current laws and regulations related to employment for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  11. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all client interactions and progress.
  12. Attend relevant trainings and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.
  13. Act as a resource and support for clients and their families.
  14. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for clients and colleagues.
  15. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards in the field of mental health.
  16. Continuously strive to improve services and outcomes for clients.
  17. Represent Thresholds in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  18. Embody the organization's mission and values in all aspects of the role.
  19. Collaborate with community organizations to promote employment opportunities for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  20. Maintain confidentiality of all client information.

Job Qualifications
  • Fluency In American Sign Language (Asl) And Understanding Of Deaf Culture: As An Ips Employment Specialist, It Is Crucial To Have A Strong Understanding Of Asl And Deaf Culture In Order To Effectively Communicate With And Understand Deaf And Hard Of Hearing Clients.

  • Knowledge Of Vocational Rehabilitation And Job Placement Processes: The Ips Employment Specialist Will Be Responsible For Assisting Clients In Finding And Maintaining Employment. Therefore, Knowledge Of Vocational Rehabilitation And Job Placement Processes Is Essential To The Role.

  • Experience Working With Individuals With Disabilities: Thresholds Serves Individuals With A Variety Of Disabilities, Including Those Who Are Deaf And Hard Of Hearing. Previous Experience Working With Individuals With Disabilities Is Important For Understanding Their Unique Needs And Providing Effective Support.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Ips Employment Specialist Will Be Working Closely With Clients, Employers, And Other Professionals. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary For Building Relationships And Advocating For Clients In The Workplace.

  • Ability To Develop And Implement Individualized Employment Plans: Each Client Will Have Unique Needs And Goals When It Comes To Employment. The Ips Employment Specialist Must Be Able To Create Individualized Employment Plans That Address These Needs And Support Clients In Achieving Their Goals.
