Job Description

As a Library Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the overall organization and functionality of our library.   1. Greet and welcome students, faculty, and visitors to the University of New Mexico library in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Assist library patrons with locating and checking out materials, including books, media, and electronic resources.
  3. Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, resolving issues, and directing patrons to appropriate resources or staff members.
  4. Maintain the overall organization and functionality of the library by shelving and organizing materials, ensuring proper signage, and keeping workspaces tidy.
  5. Process and maintain library materials, including checking in and out, cataloging, and updating records.
  6. Collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement resources and services that meet the needs of the diverse student body.
  7. Serve as a resource for patrons by providing instruction on how to use library equipment and resources.
  8. Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of library equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners.
  9. Stay up-to-date with library policies, procedures, and services in order to provide accurate information to patrons.
  10. Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment by working collaboratively with other library staff and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  11. Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about library updates and developments.
  12. Complete other duties and projects as assigned by the Access Services Manager or other library administrators.
  13. Uphold the University of New Mexico's mission and values by demonstrating dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to providing a world-class education to students.
