  1. Provide academic support and guidance to fellow students.
  2. Promote academic success and personal growth among peers.
  3. Assist students in setting and achieving academic goals.
  4. Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with students to identify their academic strengths and areas for improvement.
  5. Develop and implement effective academic strategies for students.
  6. Collaborate with academic advisors and faculty to support student success.
  7. Facilitate workshops and group sessions on study skills, time management, and other relevant topics.
  8. Maintain accurate records of student progress and coaching sessions.
  9. Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students.
  10. Continuously seek out opportunities to improve and enhance the peer academic coaching program.
  11. Attend regular training and meetings to stay updated on coaching techniques and university resources.
  12. Communicate regularly with students, faculty, and staff to ensure effective support and resources are provided.
  13. Uphold and promote the university's values and policies.
  14. Demonstrate empathy, understanding, and patience towards students' academic struggles.
  15. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.

Job Qualifications
  • A Strong Academic Background: Peer Academic Coaches Should Have A Minimum Cumulative Gpa Of 3.0 And Have Successfully Completed At Least Two Semesters At The University Of Kansas. This Ensures That They Have A Deep Understanding Of The University's Academic Environment And Can Effectively Help Their Peers.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Peer Academic Coach, You Will Be Working Closely With Students From Diverse Backgrounds And With Different Learning Styles. Therefore, It Is Essential To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Build Rapport And Effectively Communicate Academic Strategies.

  • Knowledge Of Academic Resources And Support Services: Peer Academic Coaches Should Be Familiar With The Various Academic Resources And Support Services Available On Campus, Such As Tutoring, Writing Centers, And Academic Advising. This Knowledge Will Enable Them To Refer Students To The Appropriate Resources For Their Specific Needs.

  • Strong Time Management And Organizational Skills: Peer Academic Coaches Should Be Able To Manage Their Time Effectively And Stay Organized To Balance Their Own Academic Workload And Their Responsibilities As A Coach. This Skill Will Also Help Them Guide Students In Developing Effective Time Management Strategies.

  • Empathy And A Desire To Help Others: The Primary Role Of A Peer Academic Coach Is To Support And Mentor Fellow Students. Therefore, Having Empathy And A Genuine Desire To Help Others Succeed Is Crucial. This Quality Will Allow Coaches To Build A Trusting Relationship With Their Peers And Provide Them With The Necessary Support And Encouragement.
