As a Graduate Reference Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff in their research endeavors.   1. Provide reference assistance: Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff regarding research and information needs, both in person and virtually.
  2. Conduct research: Utilize various library resources and databases to assist users in finding relevant and reliable information for their research projects.
  3. Assist with library instruction: Collaborate with librarians to develop and deliver workshops and instructional sessions on research skills and information literacy.
  4. Maintain knowledge of library resources: Stay up-to-date on the library's collections, databases, and services in order to effectively assist users.
  5. Communicate effectively: Clearly and professionally communicate with users, colleagues, and supervisors in person, over the phone, and via email.
  6. Provide excellent customer service: Create a welcoming and helpful atmosphere for library users by providing friendly and efficient service.
  7. Collaborate with team members: Work closely with other library staff to provide a seamless and cohesive user experience.
  8. Participate in professional development: Take advantage of training opportunities and engage in professional development to stay current in the field of librarianship.
  9. Assist with collection development: Contribute to the selection and acquisition of materials for the library's collections based on user needs and interests.
  10. Maintain accurate records: Keep detailed and accurate records of reference transactions and assist with data collection and analysis.
  11. Support outreach initiatives: Assist with promoting library resources and services through various outreach activities and events.
  12. Stay informed on industry trends: Keep up-to-date on current trends and best practices in academic librarianship and incorporate them into daily work.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field, With A Focus On Reference Services.

  • Previous Experience Working In An Academic Library, Preferably In A Reference Or Research Support Role.

  • Familiarity With Various Reference Resources And Research Tools, Including Online Databases And Library Catalog Systems.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Assist And Instruct Patrons From Diverse Backgrounds.

  • Strong Understanding Of Information Literacy Principles And Ability To Teach Research Skills To Students At The Graduate Level.
