Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an experienced and compassionate Patient Companion to provide meaningful support to our patients and their families. The ideal candidate should be a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills who can assist with patient transport and other duties as needed. This position requires a deep commitment to providing excellent customer service and upholding the highest standards of the University of Kansas Health System. Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent• Ability to speak, read, and write English• At least one year of experience working in a health care setting• Excellent customer service skills• Knowledge of medical terminology• Ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time• Ability to navigate stairs and elevators• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide meaningful support to patients and their families.
  2. Assist with patient transport and other duties as needed.
  3. Provide excellent customer service and uphold the highest standards of the University of Kansas Health System.
  4. Speak, read, and write English.
  5. Possess knowledge of medical terminology.
  6. Push and pull up to 150 pounds.
  7. Stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  8. Navigate stairs and elevators.
  9. Pass a background check and drug screen.
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned.
