
Medical Laboratory Scientist
The University of Kansas Health System is currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team in the role of Medical Laboratory Scientist. In this full-time position, you will have the opportunity to bring your unique skills and expertise to a world-class medical facility, and to help us in our mission of providing excellent patient care and outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field, with at least four years of experience working in a clinical laboratory. Additionally, a certification or license as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is required. You will need to be proficient with laboratory equipment, and have an understanding of laboratory safety and quality control practices. Excellent organizational and communication skills are needed, along with the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests and procedures, interpret results, and document results in the patient’s medical record.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, troubleshoot problems when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality control practices.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with other healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient data, laboratory results, and other related information.
- Participate in continuing education and other professional development activities.
- Provide direction and guidance to laboratory technicians and other personnel.
- Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Remain current with changes and advances in laboratory technology.
