Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Lab Scientist - Microbiology to join our team. We’re looking for a highly knowledgeable and motivated individual to join our laboratory team and help us provide quality patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely analysis of laboratory specimens and the operation of laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field, as well as a minimum of two years of experience in a laboratory setting. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform accurate and timely analysis of laboratory specimens
  2. Operate laboratory equipment in accordance with established protocols
  3. Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results
  4. Follow established safety procedures when handling specimens
  5. Monitor laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment
  6. Ensure quality control standards and procedures are followed
  7. Communicate effectively with other members of the laboratory team
  8. Develop and implement new laboratory protocols as needed
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
  10. Participate in research projects and other laboratory activities as needed
