Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant- Pulmonary to join our team of dedicated professionals. In this role, you will provide a wide range of clinical and administrative support across the pulmonary team. We are looking for an individual with strong communication and organizational skills, who is passionate about providing excellent patient care. Qualifications:• High school diploma or equivalent• Current certification as a Medical Assistant• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office, clinic or hospital setting• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly• Basic knowledge of computer systems and software• Ability to perform basic math calculations

Responsibilities:

  1. Collect and record patient medical history and vital signs.
  2. Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  3. Administer medications and injections as prescribed by the physician.
  4. Assist physician with minor surgical procedures.
  5. Educate patients on health care management.
  6. Schedule and confirm appointments.
  7. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  8. Ensure medical records are accurate and up-to-date.
  9. Answer patient inquiries and provide guidance and information.
  10. Assist with billing, insurance, and other administrative tasks.
  11. Update and order medical supplies and equipment as needed.
  12. Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
