Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an experienced and professional Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering patient-centered care and help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for patients and families. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing direct patient care, medical office duties, and various other tasks as assigned.The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a current Medical Assistant certification, and have a minimum of two (2) years of prior experience in a medical office setting. In addition, this individual must possess excellent customer service skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and be able to prioritize multiple tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct patient care in accordance with the standards of practice set by the University of Kansas Health System.
  2. Assist physicians and other healthcare providers in the delivery of patient care.
  3. Maintain patient charts and records, including documenting patient information and updating medical histories.
  4. Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow during clinic hours.
  5. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the healthcare provider.
  6. Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure medical equipment is in proper working order
  7. Perform basic laboratory tests and assist in diagnostic testing.
  8. Educate patients on their diagnosis, medications, and treatments.
  9. Provide support to patients and families throughout their treatment.
  10. Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to patient safety and healthcare.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  12. Maintain current certification and complete continuing education courses as required.
