Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System is looking for a highly motivated and talented Inpatient Phlebotomist to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a compassionate healthcare professional with a passion for excellence in patient care. This position is responsible for providing exceptional phlebotomy services in a timely manner to both adult and pediatric inpatients. The successful candidate for this role must possess a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in phlebotomy. In addition, the Inpatient Phlebotomist must have a valid certification from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent. An understanding of medical terminology and the ability to provide excellent customer service is also required. This is an excellent opportunity to join an amazing team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide exceptional phlebotomy services to adult and pediatric inpatients in a timely manner.
  2. Ensure that all equipment and supplies needed for phlebotomy are properly maintained and stocked.
  3. Follow all safety and infection control procedures while performing phlebotomy services.
  4. Accurately document and record all phlebotomy services performed.
  5. Maintain current certification from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
  6. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
  7. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the University of Kansas Health System.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
  9. Maintain patient confidentiality.
  10. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
