Job Description

The University of Kansas Health System is looking for an empathetic and experienced Hospital Chaplain to join our dynamic and supportive team of healthcare professionals. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff and be willing to work collaboratively in a team environment. The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in theology, pastoral care, or a related field and must be ordained or endorsed by a recognized religious body. The Hospital Chaplain should also have at least three years of experience in a similar role. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff.
  2. Work collaboratively in a team environment.
  3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with other healthcare professionals.
  4. Assist with developing and coordinating spiritual care services and programs.
  5. Facilitate religious and spiritual counseling and support to patients and their families.
  6. Participate in on-call coverage for hospital emergencies.
  7. Provide spiritual and emotional support to staff members in times of need.
  8. Assist in the education and training of staff and volunteers in spiritual care.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
  10. Participate in hospital committees and other activities as requested.
