Welcome to The Ohio State University's youth care team! We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Youth Care Workers. As a Youth Care Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of youth at our university. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with young people and are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive in.   1. Provide direct care and supervision to youth at The Ohio State University, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  2. Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, establishing trust and rapport to support their emotional and social development.
  3. Create and implement age-appropriate activities and programs that promote physical, emotional, and cognitive growth and development.
  4. Collaborate with other team members, including social workers, teachers, and therapists, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to youth care.
  5. Observe and document youth behavior and progress, and report any concerns or incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized living environment for youth, including bedrooms, common areas, and shared facilities.
  7. Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures, and respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies or crisis situations.
  8. Serve as a positive role model for youth, demonstrating appropriate behavior and communication skills.
  9. Attend and actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  10. Uphold the values and mission of The Ohio State University's youth care team, and contribute to a positive and inclusive work culture.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Understanding Of Child And Adolescent Development: A Youth Care Worker Must Have A Deep Understanding Of The Physical, Emotional, And Cognitive Development Of Children And Adolescents In Order To Effectively Support And Guide Them.

  • Experience Working With Youth: Previous Experience Working With Children And Teenagers, Either Through Volunteer Work, Internships, Or Paid Positions, Is Essential For A Youth Care Worker. This Experience Demonstrates The Ability To Connect With And Support Young People.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Youth Care Worker, You Will Be Working Closely With A Team Of Professionals As Well As With The Youth Themselves. Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Crucial For Building Relationships And Effectively Addressing Any Issues That May Arise.

  • Knowledge Of Trauma-Informed Care: Many Youth Who Require The Support Of A Youth Care Worker Have Experienced Trauma In Their Lives. Knowledge Of Trauma-Informed Care Practices Is Essential For Creating A Safe And Supportive Environment For These Young People.

  • Ability To Work Flexible Hours And Handle Challenging Situations: Youth Care Workers Must Be Able To Work Flexible Hours, Including Evenings And Weekends. They Must Also Be Able To Handle High-Stress Situations And Be Prepared To Handle Challenging Behavior From Youth In Their Care.
