  1. Provide top-notch care for equine patients undergoing surgery at The Ohio State University.
  2. Work collaboratively with a team of veterinary professionals to ensure the highest level of care for equine patients.
  3. Assist in preparing and maintaining surgical equipment and supplies.
  4. Monitor and record vital signs of equine patients before, during, and after surgery.
  5. Administer medications and assist with anesthesia during surgery.
  6. Monitor post-operative recovery and provide necessary care and treatments.
  7. Assist veterinarians in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  8. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all equine patients.
  9. Educate clients on post-operative care and medications for their equine companions.

  11. Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on current equine surgical techniques and procedures.
  12. Comply with all safety protocols and procedures.
  13. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in veterinary medicine.
  14. Collaborate with other departments and facilities within the university for the benefit of equine patients.
  15. Foster a positive and professional environment for colleagues, clients, and patients.
  16. Help train and mentor new veterinary care technicians.
  17. Act as an advocate for equine welfare and provide compassionate care to all patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (Rvt) Certification From An Accredited Program

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In Equine Surgery Or A Related Field

  • Strong Knowledge Of Equine Anatomy, Physiology, And Medical Terminology

  • Ability To Handle And Restrain Large Animals In A Safe And Effective Manner

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Well In A Team Environment
