
Student Library Assistant - Health Sciences

- Assist students and faculty with their research needs, including locating and accessing relevant resources and materials.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting library patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer inquiries at the front desk and via phone and email, referring more complex questions to appropriate staff members.
- Conduct basic reference interviews and refer patrons to appropriate resources and services.
- Assist with basic library tasks such as shelving, processing materials, and maintaining a neat and organized work environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using library resources and technology, and assist patrons with accessing and navigating these resources.
- Collaborate with library staff to plan and execute events and workshops related to the health sciences.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings to continuously develop knowledge and skills related to library services and resources.
- Uphold library policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, providing feedback and suggestions for improving library services and operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by library staff.
Knowledge Of Health Sciences: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Health Sciences, Including Medical Terminology, Healthcare Concepts, And Current Industry Trends.
Excellent Communication Skills: As A Student Library Assistant, Strong Communication Skills Are Essential. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Library Patrons, Faculty, And Staff In A Professional And Courteous Manner.
Experience With Library Systems And Software: Familiarity With Library Systems And Software, Such As Integrated Library Systems And Online Databases, Is Important For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Comfortable With Basic Computer Skills, Such As Word Processing And Internet Research.
Attention To Detail: A Student Library Assistant Must Be Detail-Oriented And Have Excellent Organizational Skills. This Includes The Ability To Accurately Shelve And Locate Books, As Well As Maintain Accurate Records Of Library Materials.
Customer Service Experience: Previous Experience In A Customer Service Role Is Highly Desirable For This Position. The Candidate Should Have A Friendly And Helpful Demeanor, As Well As The Ability To Assist Library Patrons With Their Needs And Inquiries.
