Welcome to The Ohio State University's Corrections Healthcare Unit! We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality healthcare services to incarcerated individuals.   1. Provide high-quality healthcare services to incarcerated individuals within The Ohio State University's Corrections Healthcare Unit.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive and patient-centered care.
  3. Assess and monitor patients' physical and mental health status, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  4. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  5. Document patient care accurately and timely in accordance with facility and state guidelines.
  6. Educate patients on health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare providers.
  8. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  9. Adhere to ethical and evidence-based nursing practices.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  11. Continuously update knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities.
  12. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions with patients and their families.
  13. Follow infection control procedures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
  14. Adhere to facility policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  15. Serve as a role model and mentor to nursing students and new staff members.
  16. Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate nursing care.
  17. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  19. Participate in performance evaluations and contribute to the development of individual and unit goals.
  20. Actively contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Ohio.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Correctional Healthcare Unit.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Correctional Healthcare Policies And Procedures.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Inmates, Correctional Staff, And Healthcare Team Members.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment While Maintaining Composure And Providing Quality Patient Care.
